Home Vaastu - Main Rooms and Services


Bath Room
Eastern sector is best for a bathroom without latrine (snanagar), with a washing machine in the northwest, geyser or boiler in south-east and bath tub in southwest with head area in the south. Red and orange color tiles or fittings should be avoided.






Master Bedroom
Southwest bedroom should be allotted to the master of the eldest son, or alternatively, towards the south. Entry to the room preferred from east or north.

Children's Room Or Study Room
Children's room be placed in the east or north or west in that order of preference. The study should be placed in such a way that the child studies facing east or north.  Blue or green colour predominance in the room helps study.

Guest Room
Guest room or marriageable daughter's, newly weds or an expecting lady room be better provided in northwest. Entrance to this room can be from south or southeast.

Kitchen
1.      Kitchen should be planned in the southeast of the building, or alternatively, only when necessary northwest is recommended.
2.      Fire stove should be in the southeast of the kitchen, ensuring that the lady may face east when cooking.
3.      It can have a ventilator above not a window behind. Avoid door in the southwest. Drinking water should be stored in the northeast, alongside the sink for washing.
4.      Grain storage is recommended in the southwest.
5.      Dish-washer or refrigerator in the northwest.
6.      Lofts and storage racks on south or southwest or west wall is recommended.
7.      Cleaning materials and broom should be stored in northwest.
8.      To stimulate appetite, the wood work and tile work may be closer to pink or orange color.
9.      A mirror on the north wall will help finances.
10.  Door is recommended in north of north east or west of north west.

Dining Room
1.      West is considered best, but in modern dispensation, the brahmsthana is exciting in many ways.
2.      It should necessarily be close to the kitchen and next to the living room.
3.      Dining table may be rectangular one, the master of the house or his wife or the eldest son occupying the south or southwest and west of southwest chair.
4.      Glass top dinning table is not recommended.
5.      Fridge can be placed in the southeast.
6.      An open kitchen is acceptable.
7.      The decorations and lighting arrangement should be one of relaxing not exciting.
8.      Door from the living room may be from north or west.

Living Room
1.      North, East or northeast sector is best for a living room.
2.      The right hand entry may be more spacious.
3.      Door from outside from East or north is recommended.
4.      Decorative, wall sceneries, flower pots, lights and other items be placed.
5.      Once again the decorative should be of relaxing nature and not exciting.
6.      Good sceneries and mirrors can be placed on the north or east wall.
7.      Master can occupy the south-west corner sofa facing either the east or north.
8.      Furniture in south and west with good space in north and east is better.
9.      The centre of the living room be better kept light.

Store Room
1.      The store room of granaries are prescribed in the northwest.
2.      Heavy provisions can be placed on the south and west walls.
3.      Oil, butter, milk etcn may be stored in the south-east.
4.      East entry to the store is good.
5.      North may be given window larger than that on the west.

Toilets
1.      Toilets are best on the northwest, second best being southeast.
2.      Never have a toilet in the Brahmsthana.
3.      Never have a toilet in the northeast.
4.      Toilets in the southwest can be south of southwest.
5.      An attached toilet to a bed room is best in northwest.
6.      The tiles and flooring in the toilet are better light shades of blue and green, never pink or red.
7.      Secured windows to be on the north or east.
8.      Toilet seats be better facing south or west or east in the cardinal direction abode.
9.      Toilet seats be better facing southwest or southeast in a non-cardinal direction abode.
